Kita No Donburi, nestled in downtown Vancouver at 423 Seymour St, offers a delightful fusion of Japanese cuisine with a hint of Korean flair. This cozy eatery garners rave reviews for its diverse menu, featuring signature dishes that highlight fresh, high-quality ingredients. The Chanko Don, praised for its variety of proteins including chicken, shrimp, and beef, exemplifies the restaurant’s commitment to traditional comfort food while standing out amongst other local Japanese eateries. Patrons frequently commend the restaurant for its generous portions and affordable pricing, particularly during lunch hours when the establishment buzzes with activity from nearby offices and SFU students. Had their Chanko Don (16.55). Great bowl of assorted ingredients, which I found more different and varied than other Japanese eateries. My bowl had different proteins (chicken, shrimp, tofu, beef), mushrooms, spinach, seaweed, and a few other ingredients. Casual dining atmosphere with affordable prices. The restaurant was fairly busy by 7 pm. Would return if in the area! Convenient location downtown in between Waterfront and Granville stations.

More food reviews: ig: sneha_speaks This was the very first meal I had when I arrived in Vancouver, and it instantly made its way into my heart. Tucked away on Seymour & Hastings near Waterfront Station, this cozy Japanese restaurant offers delicious, traditional dishes with a few Korean options. The place does get busy around lunchtime—understandably so, given its proximity to SFU. The lunch sets are excellent— generous portions at very reasonable prices, especially for downtown Vancouver. My favourite dishes are the katsu don and chicken katsu curry. They’re served with miso soup, fresh salad, and sides, making for a satisfying, homemade-style meal. 11/10 The donburi bowls are packed with rice, sometimes more than the protein, but you’ll definitely leave the place very full. The staff are polite, fast, and happy to guide you if you’re unsure what to order. They explain what pairs well together. I only took one star off the environment because they could have more spacious seating by removing clutter. If you’re looking for tasty Japanese comfort food in the heart of Vancouver, this spot is a must-visit.

Very nice and cozy little japanese restaurant with korean dishes like bibimbap thats tucked away on Seymour & Hastings near Waterfront. Super cool location and apparently gets busy. I tried the Sha-ke don which consisted of mostly salmon and it was delicious. They might skimp out a little because we noticed we had much rice left but its all good. They ask you if you would like tea or water. Service was good and food came pretty quick. Thank you kindly!

I visited the place with my family. We ordered 2 lunch sets: tonari set and katsu don set; shrimp tempura and sushi set for two. I enjoyed sushi set most. Everything was great, fresh and delicious. Nice friendly staff. Light not distracting music. I recommend.

Very good! I tried their Katsu Don with Egg and it was delicious: creamy, soft and fresh. The chicken was very rich and tender. I enjoyed the food a lot and it's definitely on the affordable side.

This restaurant seems to be run by a Japanese team. There were some Japanese customers during lunch hour, which could mean that the food is authentic. I tried their chirashi don with miso soup and Japanese soy sauce. The seafood is very fresh and the staff are so polite to customers.
